Julia and Kazu join the lab!

Spring is almost here as we warmly welcome two new lab members. Julia is a CSB student and Kazu is a postdoc researcher. Welcome both!

Human Tumor Atlas Network Is Exciting New Stage for Cancer Genomics

Over the past decade, the Cancer Genome Atlas contributed greatly to understanding tumors across 33 cancer types. To further characterize tumor progression and microenvironment as it grows, The Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) was initiated. WashU researchers led by Dr. Li Ding got $9 million support from the NIH to investigate breast and pancreatic cancers in HTAN. Through local collaborations with project co-leads (Dr. Ryan C. Fields, Dr. William Gillanders and Dr. Samuel Achilefu) and researchers across HTAN, this project will help us dive into tumor invasion and drug resistance in cancer. Jan 11, 2019

CONGRATULATIONS, ALLA AND RUIYANG!

Alla defended her Master's thesis titiled "Acetylation profiles of histone and non-histone proteins in breast cancer" and Ruiyang passed her QE smoothly. Alla is the first Master's student to graduate from the Ding Lab! Congratulations! We celebrated this with champagne and cake! December 18, 2018.

lab holiday party!

We had a lab holiday party at Li and Feng's house. Reyka just got her PhD degree on Friday and Bobo proposed to his girlfriend on Tuesday night! Congrats, Reyka and Bobo! After a nice lunch, people exchanged white elephant holiday gifts and played games. December 15, 2018.

CONGRATULATIONS, DR. JAYASINGHE!

Congratulations to Dr. Reyka Jayasinghe! Her thesis was titled "The splice is not right: splice-site-creating mutations in cancer genomes". She did brilliant work not only in science but also in student leadership positions across campus. We will miss you! Meow~~~ December 14, 2018.

ASH 2018

Fernanda and Steven represented the Ding Lab at the 2018 meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) in San Diego, CA. Steven presented his work titled “Comprehensive Multi-Omics Analysis of Gene Fusions in a Large Multiple Myeloma Cohort”, while Fernanda presented twice: one invited talk titled “Germline Variants in Multiple Myeloma”, and a poster titled “Characterization of Germline Variants in Multiple Myeloma”. They enjoyed meeting new colleagues, collaborators, and exploring San Diego! Chris Yoon, representing his lab at KAIST, also presented his work with multiple myeloma samples from Korea. November 30 - December 4, 2018.

Bobo passed his QE!

The weather outside was frightful on Nov. 15th, but Bobo smoothly passed his QE. Congratulations Bobo! November 15, 2018.
